Nationality or Personality?

I am a migrant worker. I contribute few euros a week to a local wealth – but at least I contribute something! Immigrants steal local jobs people say, I’ll smile at it, I see that I pay taxes and like other tax-payers feed hundreds of thousands of benefits takers. My Irish neighbour gets chased for rent by his landlord. His neighbour gets council tax reminders. I know a few others who aren’t paying their utility bills on time. I don’t get paid more than them, but I clear all my dues on the 1st of the month. Is it about nationality or race?

When I have studied in this country my family paid more than €60,000 over the 5 year period to the Irish education system. Yes so I send a few euros back home (my family will probably buy exports on it anyway) – it’s still less than what I spend here. And what about the wealth I am generating at work for the economy?

I speak my language with my fellow-countrymen whenever I am with them and I would presume that two Irish friends wouldn’t speak Chinese among each other even if they are in China.

I need to be better than all European Union applicants to a job to get a work permit. And I am. Doesn’t that help the company that hired me? I guess the hours I spent studying while my classmates were busy binge drinking and ‘socialising’ are now proving to be of some worth? What do you think?

I think that immigration brings a lot of wealth to the country and so do good people too. Do good people have to be of a specific nationality?

Are you afraid that your National identity will disappear? Well immigration does not destroy a National identity … it enhances the growth of people and the world, it can be educated and will broaden spheres and horizons, it can be assisted and inspired to grow and develop. The changes and developments that influence the educational process of an individual’s identity depend upon the parental guidance and upbringing that a person or individual receives… considering his race, culture and traditions, religion, mentalities, languages, characters and his personality. The question is what do you do about it? What matters more for you? The head-scarf on your child’s head or quality of food your children eat?

Lots of the immigrants belong to well organized lifestyle groups and came with higher education backgrounds. Doesn’t everyone need very well educated people? Doesn’t a higher academic educational stratum and huge level of experience in business bring professional and social developments?

Yes the private and or personal ambitions of immigrants are big. Some of us will work and/or drive for achievement and/or struggle for a better way of life carried by an inspiration like “the grass is greener in the other side of the fence” as one of those inspirational thoughts and or reasons to carry on, and or the road to good luck and or Fate. So what is wrong with that?  People strive for life for whatever reasons, that vary from different lifestyle and surroundings. Don’t you like to hear those stories that happened unplanned, unforeseen and in an unexpected way like an adventure? Ask your foreign neighbour – you’ll hear some for sure.

Be honest with yourself! Does it matter what nationality you are or is it not more important who you are?
