Learn English for FREE

It is impossible, however, to improve your speaking skills using the internet- for this need it is best to try to make Irish friends!
One useful site is www.daveseslcafe.com.  When you reach the homepage, click on the links below the heading “Stuff for Students”.  There are places you can have ‘discussions’ with other students of English, and there is also a place where you can ask questions about English called the “Help Centre.”  On this site you can also learn about idioms, slang and phrasal verbs. Interestingly, you can also take grammar, writing and cultural quizzes!
Another interesting place on the web is www.englishclub.com, which has lots of information but can also be a little confusing.  You will probably need to be B1+ level or above to understand the information on this site.  They have reading and writing activities, a “discussion” page, special vocabulary for business needs, and lots of quizzes to help test your grammar.  They also have information about the history of the English language, if that interests you!
A place that you can try free listening lessons is at www.esl-lab.com.  The listening exercises are for any level of English, from beginner to advanced, and you can choose 30-second “clips” or whole conversations.  There are also questions with the listenings to help you understand what is being said.
Finally, if you are planning on taking a test like FCE soon, you can get free help on the internet to study for your test. Try the “About: FCE” website at http://esl.about.com/cs/britishcambridge/a/a_fce.htm.  There are many grammar, listening and vocabulary pages, as well as links to web pages about other tests (TOEFL, IELTS).
