Certainly, Irish schools are not short of failings, but let us look at a question about education from position of comparison. It is common knowledge that quite often we consider failing unusual, that, whatever was present at our native country level. Let’s acknowledge that quite often we are limited to the role of critics and don’t do much in order to change something or look at the other side of the subject.
We are all proud of the knowledge we received in our country of origin. Most of us have a degree or BA, but what difference does it make here. We studied a lot that was meant in a school programme, and even more, in fact quite often parents hired teachers for additional tuition. But in fact, when we socialise with local habitants, we are frequently surprised that their ignorance of the knowledge we got from our schooling . Nothing unreasonable, just have a look around: magnificent cars, replete and well-dressed people, remarkable houses, smiles, happiness, life enjoyment. In my point of view they simply learn at school other things and methodologies. They learn how to be happy, independent, self respectful, positive. Do not expect that your child will be pushed to do something. Your child is your only business. And there are only ways to chose by itself or by its parents. We complain about Irish schools, we think that teachers do not dedicate themselves to children and level of knowledge is very poor. But what is important about your kid’s childhood? I think it’s more important to be happy! And even if you are very smart, it’s better to create a world of understanding while you are a happy and smart person at the same time. And this society offers a great number of possibilities to our children, and whether we use them or not, it’s up to us...
