When first moving from your own country to Ireland, you’ll most likely be worried about finding a job and cheap accommodation. A job might be harder to find, but Cork has plenty of budget accommodation that will help ease your worries until you land a good paying job.

Knowing that you have a nice place to stay while you are starting a new life abroad will help ease your mind while you are meeting new friends or until you find a flat to share. There are a number of budget accommodations located near the city centre, which can make finding a job easier and have weekly specials for people who move to Ireland.

Shelia’s Hostel

Sheila’s is a cosy, family-run budget accommodation centre only 3 minutes walk from the bus stop, train station and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants. It has multi-bedrooms, which accommodate 8, 6 and 4 persons.

It has twins, doubles and triple rooms available, many with showers ensuite. At this hostel, they can help you with travel arrangements. They don’t have a curfew, and there is a self-serving kitchen and a T.V room. A dorm room starts at about 13 euros but if you book on-line, the rate is much cheaper.

Kelly's Hostel

Located just a short walk from Cork's busy city centre, Kelly's Hostel is probably the most colourful accommodation of any sort in the entire country. In all, the hostel has 20 beds including dorm and double rooms. This hostel also has a large kitchen, TV room and provides laundry service. The dorm rooms start at about 10 euros per night for an eight-bed dorm room.

Cork International Youth Hostel

This hostel is a little bit further away from the city centre. It is about a twenty-minute walk away from the bus station and is located near UCC. There is a great feeling of spaciousness in this hostel, which combines two recently renovated Victorian red brick buildings, situated close to the River Lee.

This hostel also provides a kitchen, T.V room and a laundry service. It is open 24-hours, but the reception is closed from midnight until 8 a.m. So if you have any problems you are on your own. If you plan to stay a long time in Cork, they provide you with a weekly rate in an 8-bedroom dorm of about 80 euros a week.

Situated in the charming old part of Cork City under the famous 'Bells of Shandon'. Renowned for its warm and friendly atmosphere, Kinlay House offers clean and comfortable accommodation at great prices.

Kinlay House probably is one of the most preferred budget hostels. Within easy walking distance of the city centre bars, cafés, restaurants, cinemas and the central bus and railway stations. They offer a weekly rate of 91 euros per person in a twin share room. The reception is open 24-hrs a day, 365 days a year. This hostel will also give you a letter of residency so you can get your PPN number to set up your bank account or apply for jobs.

Bru Bar & Hostel is the most recent addition to Cork. This hostel also has a large T.V room as well as kitchen and laundry facilities. The dorm room starts at about 14 euros per night. The main difference between this hostel and all the rest is that it also features a state of the art Internet cafe as well as a full bar where you can relax and enjoy a pint of the black stuff with fellow travellers. Bru is located near both the train station and bus station.
