Welcome to Palapassurfside.com

Martha's Vineyard hotels are different from hotels you find in many typical cities and suburbs. There are not many chain hotels on the Vineyard. There is one Clarion hotel, but the other hotels and motels are one of a kind, privately owned, uniquely styled businesses.

Most of the hotels and lodging are located in Oak Bluffs, Edgartown and Vineyard Haven. You may find that prices are a bit more in Edgartown compared to the other towns and the best deals are for dates prior to late June and after the end of August. You could pay up to half as much for a room in early June when compared to July and August.

Very few of the Vineyard hotels have pools. The Vineyard has many great beaches and hotel pools are not as common as in other cities or suburbs. Two hotels in Edgartown that have pools are the Winnetu and Edgartown Commons.

Hotels in Vineyard Haven include the Vineyard Harbor Motel and the Harbor Landing Inn. Both are located within walking distance of the Steamship Authority terminal in Vineyard Haven and are also convenient to the shops in Vineyard Haven. The original Black Dog Tavern is also close to both of these businesses.

Hotels in Oak Bluffs include the Wesley Hotel, the Nashua House Hotel, the Surfside Motel, and the Pequot Hotel. These hotels are all within walking distance of the Oak Bluffs Steamship Authority ferry terminal. They are also close to the downtown area of Oak Bluffs which includes many restaurants, shops and the famous horse carousel.

Hotels in Edgartown include the Harbor View Hotel, the Kelley House, the Winnetu Resort and the Edgartown Commons. We stayed at the Edgartown Commons and thought it offered a good value and a great location. The price is reasonable and they have a nice pool. You can get suites which include small kitchens and living room areas and they are located about 3 blocks from all the activities in downtown Edgartown. They also offer private decks and semi-private picnic areas.

Alternatives to hotels on Martha's Vineyard include bed and breakfasts, inns, and rental homes. If you are staying for a week and could plan to travel with another family or couple, a rental house could be a great option. There are many to choose from and if you split the cost with another group you'll likely pay the same or less than you would for a hotel room.

There are also many great bed and breakfasts on the island. These are mainly located in the towns of Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and Edgartown.

You should try to coordinate the reservation of a hotel of other lodging with the reservation of ferry tickets if you'll be visiting by ferry. The ferry tickets are booked quickly so plan accordingly.
